A little companion for time away.
Foldy Pets is a virtual pet app being built around a small ritual: tuck your companion in, put your phone down, and come back to see what it dreamed.
Your Foldy grows through rest. There is no feeding schedule to keep up with, and no unhappy pet waiting if you miss a day.
Foldy is still in development. The waitlist is open; a release date has not been announced. This is a preview of how the app is designed to work.
1. Choose someone to rest with
Pick an egg from eight companion lines: Mote, Axo, Kip, Hush, Pip, Lumi, Koi and Luna. Each hatches as a glowing Pixel creature with its own shape and personality. The free app lets you choose any one; Pro adds room for more companions.
Mote is the round sky-spirit you meet on this site. Kip is a comet fox, Hush a sleepy moon-cat, and Pip an origami bird. They all grow through the same gentle rest loop.
2. Tuck your Foldy in
Open Foldy and begin a rest. On iPhone Duo, closing the fold while Foldy is open tucks your companion in. On other supported iPhones, lock the phone or place it face down while Foldy is open. You can also use the Rest button.
Then leave your phone alone for a while. Read a few pages, make tea, or sit with someone. Foldy records its own rest sessions; it does not need to read your other apps’ usage history to grow your pet.
Want help leaving particular apps alone? Deep Nap is an optional Pro feature that uses Apple’s Screen Time permission to shield apps you choose during a rest.
3. Come back to a dream
Rest earns stardust, up to a daily limit. A session with at least twenty credited minutes earns a dream: a little constellation to add to your personal night sky. Shorter rests still keep the stardust they earned.
Over time, your Atlas fills with dreams. You can revisit the sky and share favorite discoveries as paper-style cards. Rest is the way to find them; checking the app more often does not make your companion grow faster.
4. Watch pixels become light
Rested hours fill your companion’s Glow. When it is ready, the Pixel hatchling evolves into a Lumen form made of particles of light. On iPhone Duo, the evolution stretches across the fold.
No catching up required
Your companion never dies or loses progress because you took a break. Missed days pause the moon streak instead of resetting it. An interrupted rest keeps what it earned.
The core loop—rest, dreams and evolution—and widgets are planned for the free app. Pro adds more companions, colorways, auras, full dream history and Deep Nap. You can enjoy the core without turning on app blocking or notifications.
