The Foldy FAQ.
A few things to know before your first nap. Foldy Pets is still in development; these answers describe the app being built.
Can I download Foldy Pets yet?
Not yet. The waitlist is open, and no release date has been announced. Join with your email address to hear when Foldy launches.
What kind of app is it?
Foldy is a virtual companion that grows through time away from your phone. Rest earns stardust, longer credited rests earn dreams, and rested hours help your companion evolve from Pixel to Lumen. It is a gentle ritual for phone-free time, without feeding chores or a pet that gets sick when you leave.
Is it only for iPhone Duo?
The fold is part of Foldy’s design for iPhone Duo, but the app is also being built for other iPhones. With Foldy open, you can lock the phone or place it face down to begin a rest; there is also a Rest button. Final supported devices and system requirements will be confirmed with the release.
Does locking my phone always start a rest?
No. Start from Foldy: open the app, then fold, lock or place the phone face down, or use Rest. Foldy does not silently count every moment your phone is locked as a session.
How long does a dream take?
A rest with at least twenty credited minutes earns a dream. Stardust and credited progress have daily limits, so leaving a session running indefinitely does not produce unlimited rewards. Shorter rests can still earn stardust.
What if I wake early or miss a day?
Your companion keeps what it has earned. It does not die, decay or lose its evolution progress. Missing a day pauses the moon streak instead of resetting it. You can return when you are ready.
What is free, and what is in Pro?
The free app is planned to include a choice of one companion from any of the eight lines, plus rest, dreams, evolution and widgets. Pro adds more companions, premium colorways and auras, full dream history and Deep Nap. Subscription and lifetime options are planned; launch pricing has not been announced here.
Do I have to block apps to use Foldy?
No. Deep Nap is an optional Pro mode that shields selected apps during a rest. You can hatch, rest and evolve a companion without using it.
Why would Foldy ask for Screen Time permission?
Only features you enable that need it—Deep Nap or optional usage-based nudges—ask for that permission. It is not part of onboarding. The rest loop uses Foldy’s own session timestamps, rather than reading your other apps’ usage history.
Do I need an account?
The app is designed to work without an account, with rest data on your device and no ads or tracking. Planned diagnostics and optional anonymous analytics will be explained in the app’s separate privacy policy. The email waitlist is separate from the app.
What happens when I join the waitlist?
Kit sends you a confirmation email. Confirm your address to finish joining, then we will email you when Foldy launches. Every email has an unsubscribe link. The waitlist privacy notice explains how Kit and the website handle your information.
